Don't throw away those "worn out" dishes!

IMPORTANT NOTE: I found this tip about a month ago - either on Facebook or Pinterest. I will hunt it down to credit original poster.

Do you have "worn out" dishes with a million marks from silverware that look kind of like this?

OR this?

OR even THIS?

Don't toss them! Don't even DONATE them! Why buy NEW ones when you can REVITALIZE the ones you have?! How you ask? Well, I'm going to tell you!

It's soooo simple! Just go buy some Bar Keeper's Friend - it should be on the cleaning aisle at your local grocery store! (I know for a fact the Commissary carries it because that's where I bought mine!) NOTE: It has as similar consistency to Comet but they are NOT the same thing, so I personally would NOT substitute Comet for this!!!

Wet one dish at a time & sprinkle some on to make a nice paste. Use an old dish rag or towel & rub it around the dish for about a minute or 2. (You may need to sprinkle a little more powder or add more water for ones that are really bad with deep scratches.)

Rinse off the paste and your dishes will look ALMOST like new (it doesn't get out EVERY scratch - especially the deeper ones - but they will look so much nicer than before you started)!

If you are like me, you are skeptical about this - I know I was because I saw it done on "plain white" dishes and thought it would never work on mine because they are painted with a raised pattern. I had a coupon for $0.55 off of the BKF so I picked it up for a mere $1.15! Figured I could risk it to try it out before donating our dishes & spending a small fortune on new ones!

I'm thrilled to say that these dishes (that my parents originally bought in the 1990's and handed down to me about 6 years ago) will be going strong for another 20+ years as long as I don't break them!
