I saw some homemade candy cookie serving trays on Pinterest so I decided to "give it a whirl".
Most instructions I saw said to arrange the mints on parchment paper on a cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees so that's what I tried.
First I picked up a couple of bags of CHEAP mints from WalMart (98 cents each).
Here is attempt #1 - trying to make a "round"-ish tray:
I thought it didn't look BAD for a 1st try but wanted something "nicer" looking so I used a square cake pan & lined the mints on the parchment paper where they were really packed in there to fill in the whole square as they baked/melted.
Here is attempt #2 - trying to make a square tray:
This one turned out better but the mints seemed to melt "funny". I'm unsure at this point if it is because I used CHEAP ones or if perhaps the temperature in the oven was too high or I left it in longer than it needed.
I am going to get some Peppermints (red mints) and try again another day with a 300 degree oven for the 10 minute timeframe but keeping a closer eye on it to see if I can catch it before it deforms into a funny shape.
Wish me luck!
If you attempt this too, please share a photo! :)
