Half Full or Half Empty? A Matter of Perspective

I try to be the person who sees the glass as "half full" instead of "half empty" but I think we all have our days where even the "half full" glass seems COMPLETELY empty - those days when we are just negative about everything...

I just had one of those days... the kids were stressing me out... hubby was working long hours... baby boy is being stubborn & looks like he's waiting to be evicted instead of coming on his own... I could go on, but I won't... (you're welcome)...

Then I had a late night "epiphany"... this month, 5 years ago, we should have been welcoming our son, Matthew, into our family... If you read my miscarriage journey post, you will recall that we lost Matthew at 20 weeks in 2007... it was heartbreaking to say the least...

So in my "reflection" of the fact that we should have a 5 year old son (but we DON'T)... I began to wonder why I was trying to hurry up and have the new baby arrive before he was ready (or before the doctors wanted him to come at least)... and the more I thought about it, the more I realized it was for my own, selfish reasons... I want to be able to bend over again, to move without being out of breath from feet in my lungs/ribs, to not have to pee every 5 minutes because I have the bladder of a gnat, to... well you get the idea...

When it hit me that I was being selfish instead of thankful for the blessing growing inside me I started bawling my eyes out (yes, I'm a bit overly emotional / hormonal right now)... then I got mad - at MYSELF... I decided right then & there (at 3 am) that I would NOT allow myself to be negative ANYMORE!

Of course, there will be times when I get negative about some things by themselves, but I won't let it affect me and make me a negative person... I will keep other negative people out of my life also - they don't deserve the space...

So, as the title says, it's all a matter of perspective...
